FULLY AMPED SECOND KOREAN PRESTIGE CUV DESCENDANT: Eventually, it may be mused that, on the way to the revolution in the dawn of the era of transportation electrification, a bolder than expected Korean automaker's fledgling prestige division already possessed in its repertoire some pretty amazing product that was coincidentally perfectly suited for the party.
Two years ago Roadblazing.com stumbled upon a gem of a second prestige petrol powered crossover sport activity vehicle descendant, full of bespoke levels of verve and panache, since causing fits among the cream of Teutonia. Then it should be no surprise, that an even more potent zapped variant called the 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 SAV, has been gestated.

WHAT: All new 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 Prestige AWD plug-in battery electric mid-size two row luxury crossover utility vehicle, built on Hyundai - Kia M3 modular platform. Unlike the internal combustion powered GV70 , the keen eye will observe zero tailpipes emanating from the Electrified model. This is the second crossover SAV to come from the ambitious to electrify Korean prestige brand following last year's all new GV60 compact battery electric. It is also the second internal combustion model to battery Genesis product conversion after the Electrified G80 executive sedan.

The profile consists of the same long hood, low cowl, swept back windshield, acute rear sloping roof profile The final result absolutely enters the sport activity coupe realm while avoiding most of the genre's utility compromises.

HOW ROADWORTHY: While its twin-turbo gas V-6 powered sibling is verified potent highway authority, the 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 is a pavement scorcher. Tipping a Toledo scale at a mere trifling 100 pounds more than the half size down GV60 Performance and only 10% greater weight than the petrol powered GV70 proves just how optimally this luxury mid size E-SAV was engineered for either internal combustion and battery electrification.
Ten seconds "Boost Mode", selected by the round yellow button below the right steering wheel spoke button, is a head neck snapper, which ignites a red semi-circle in the instrument cluster and whose tire chirps avoid tail sliding owing to a electronic limited slip rear axle control. It is the electric motor equivalent of gas powered Hyundai's N DCT N Grin Shift". For a second party trick, flipping the regenerative slowing steering wheel dorsal paddles, crafted from magnesium, to I Pedal driving, inversely imposes nearly the same G-Forces on occupants.
For those whose mien is dictated by Jetsonian futurism there is a driver controlled e-Active Sound Design cabin audio synthesis ranging from orbiting vacuum noise, some low pitch electrical whir or worse yet a feeble internal combustion power thrumming. If anything one or the other will absolutely mask the taint of tire induced road noise and wind whistle from sail panel mount wing mirrors at speed.

A fully independent front suspension takes advantage of the 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70's lower center of gravity for greater roll resistance given the overall height. The adaptive damping, with forward camera and GPS navigation mapped Preview Electronic Control, absorbs impacts from the 20" inch Michelin Primacy rubber with a more relaxed tautness than the shorter GV60 Performance can manage. That greater length, however, doesn't do turn-in any favors, even given the variable effort helm. Meaty big brakes may have finally become meaningless, given the urgent speed scrub of I-Pedal regenerative slowing. Sport variable brake reaction mode hastens reaction to shorter pedal inputs with such exaggeration it could induce motion sickness in any commute.

HOW PEOPLE FRIENDLY: From the outset it should be stated that, save for battery EV app pages, the 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 Prestige cabin is a ripoff of the gasoline powered GV70. That is wholly a complement to the latter, marked by a no detail spared elegance yet traditionally cohesive setting.
Major dash door and center console panels and housings are either matte genuine wood or satin aluminum long elliptical panels. Exquisite switches respond to light touch, motors whisper rather than whir, and controls are are grouped without clutter. The ample diameter thick glove rimmed steering wheel adopts the traditional 4-spoke layout, with delicately stitched center boss. The Electrified GV70 cabin manages airiness in a compact package. There is no shortage of bespoke materials such as satin aluminum, carbon fiber, stainless steel, simulated suede, and carefully stitched split grain leathers.
